CLASSES, WORKSHOPS AND SPEAKING

I am available for vegan cooking demonstrations (including TV) and workshops, radio interviews and speaking engagements. I have extensive experience with speaking and cooking classes for large groups-- I have conducted cooking workshops and classes in my local area and at numerous health and vegetarian conferences and gatherings in North America over the years (including several NAVS Summerfests).   As a La Leche League Leader, I taught cooking and baking at LLL International conferences in Chicago, Kansas City, Washington, DC and Anaheim, with audiences of over 100.

In February 2002 I was a guest speaker at the International Scientific Conference on Chinese Plant Based Nutrition and Cuisine in Philadelphia, hosted by the American Vegan Society and the Institute for Plant Based Nutrition.

Over a number of years, I have demonstrated some of my recipes and signed books at the Vegetarians of Washington 2-day "Vegfest" in Seattle, and thave also appeared at the Portland, Oregon's VegFest.  Some of my recipes appear in the Seattle VegFest cookbook, The Veg-Feasting Cookbook .  In April of 2006 and 2007, I presented , along with many reknowned vegan chefs and restauranteurs, at the Vegetarian Awakening vegan chefs' conference in Grand Rapids, MI.

My recipes also appear on Dr. Andrew Weil's website, and his new HealthyAging site, and in Howard Lyman's ("the Mad Cowboy", a former cattle rancher turned vegan activist) new book, No More Bull!.  Some of my recipes also appear in Cooking with PETA.

I have been interviewed on GoVegan Radio, GoVegan Texas, and VeganFreak Radio, and I am going to appear in a vegan cooking DVD with Julie Hasson and Dreena Burton.

In the past, I have done catering for large and small groups, and was also instrumental in opening the first vegetarian restaurant in Courtenay, BC., the Bar None Café, which remained open (under various management) for 12 years.

I recently presented two workshops at the McDougall Celebrity Chef Weekend 2008 in Santa Rosa, CA.

 CONSULTING AND  RECIPE DEVELOPMENT

As the author of 7 vegan cookbooks, and The Vegan Feast, subscription newsletter, I am constantly developing recipes and expanding my knowledge of vegan cuisine.

Clinical researcher Dr. Neal Barnard of  Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine asked me to develop recipes for his new, ground-breaking book on diabetes, "Dr. Neal Barnard's Program for Reversing Diabetes: The Scientifically Proven System for Reversing Diabetes Without Drugs", released in January 2007.

I am currently working on recipes and research for an exciting new book with David Lee, founder of the Fieldroast company in Seattle.
